About Rockkoor Enschede
Rockkoor Enschede is a rock cover choir from Enschede the Netherlands. The choir was established 8 years ago by Prestige Vocal Groups.
Our Conductor & Band
At the heart of Het Rockkoor Enschede is our conductor, Arjen Hondorp, whose artistic vision shapes the choir's distinctive and dynamic sound.
A passionate musician with a strong foundation, Arjen leads pop and brass bands as well as choirs. Drawing on his experience as a trumpeter, he creates focused yet uplifting rehearsals where musical precision and enjoyment go hand in hand. With a deep commitment to rock-inspired music, he brings enthusiasm, technical expertise, and insight to every project.
His driven yet warm approach helps choir members grow both musically and personally. Under Arjen's direction, both choir and band deliver performances that are powerful, polished, and full of character.
Soprano 1
We are the high sopranos and you best believe our singing lights up the sky.
Where others bow down, we tone up. And we are no mere songbirds.
As the brightest high notes, we are the spark that sets the song aflame. We reach from subtle, low softness to the clearest burst reaching high over the choir.
We may be the smallest group, but we are essential. Riffs would lose their edge, drums would have no power, and the choir wouldn't burn as bright if it weren't for us. We are the finishing touch on every rock classic.
Banter is a given, though, since we are feisty ladies who stand our ground, yet always with a sparkle in our eyes. For we are bona fide rockgirls and know how to handle ourselves within this magnificent choir where every voice matters!
Alto 1
The biggest section in the choir. And you can tell.
Twenty-six strong, powered by pure enthusiasm, laughter and full-on commitment. When Alt 1 comes in, you feel it. Warmth. Volume. Energy. No holding back.
What makes them unstoppable? Everyone gets to be exactly who they are. No masks, no drama. Just mutual respect, real support and a whole lot of fun. They sing together, laugh together and always have each other’s backs – on and off stage.
And outside rehearsals? They’re just as legendary. The annual dinner is sacred. Hitster nights get competitive. Karaoke evenings turn into full-blown concerts. Give them a mic and they’re not giving it back.
Big sound.
Big heart.
Big vibes.
Alt 1 rules. 🔥🎤✨
Bass & Tenor
With a consistent 15 to 20 members (although the photo doesn't show it), the RockKoor baritone group is the envy of many a mixed choir. Yes, RockKoor Enschede really does have that many male members.
As the only male vocal group of the choir, the baritones cover the full versatility of the rock genre. Bass clef or treble clef, Axl Rose or Till Lindemann, the baritones do it all. Well, okay, some of the higher notes can get a bit tricky, but that certainly doesn't stop them from trying.
Whether they are singing the lead or providing backing vocals, the baritones are often outnumbered, but rarely outsung!
Soprano 2
We are the glue that keeps this choir of five voices together, the only reason the house of cards doesn’t collapse. While high sopranos provide the decor, and altos and baritones are our foundation, we are the walls.
No one else can remember our parts, singing a countervoice as the high soprano voices fill our ears. You need the right tools for that job, and that’s this group of ladies.
Though, when I say ladies, I mean the type that doesn’t bother to conceal their predatory grin when the conductor tells the choir to pay attention to us, to draw on our strength. Good of him to confirm what everyone should already know: We are the true rockstars.
That’s why we don’t mind singing at the top of our lungs, after all, everyone should have the joy of hearing our voices.
We represent all ages, sizes and backgrounds, and sing leads, harmonies and countermelodies, with the occasional pa-dap, for good measure. The variation of our parts is reflected in the diversity of our personalities.
We are here every Tuesday, lifting each other up, singing with unbridled passion, and celebrating with a nice wine.
We can’t wait to bring our unique character to Linköping!
Alto 2
Ooh, look at them, all quietly lined up. Who wants to bet these low altos have something to hide?
The Chaos Crew (or Kaos Krew, for additional Kaos) loves good food and jazz hands, however, being the choir's lowest women voices, panic sets in the moment the notes don't dangle below the staff.
When they're not in hysterics over their own antics, they are ruthlessly opinionated, so be warned. Similarly, they may often produce an accompanying harmony, but everyone will notice when they sing counterpoint.
Together, they're a team that corrects, supports and improves its component parts, yet never passes up the opportunity to create more CHAOS!!!
